Editorial Standards
How Coverage Made Clear researches, writes, and reviews insurance content.
Our Mission
Insurance is one of the most consequential financial products people buy, and one of the hardest to understand. Coverage Made Clear exists to translate policy language, coverage rules, and claim processes into clear, practical guidance that helps readers make better decisions about their own coverage.
How We Source Information
Every article draws from primary sources wherever possible. That includes state Department of Insurance bulletins and statutes, NAIC model regulations, published carrier policy forms, and government safety and consumer protection data. When we cite a rule, deductible, limit, or process, it can be traced back to one of those sources. Where official guidance is silent, we say so and explain how the topic is generally handled in practice.
Fact-Checking and Review
Every post on Coverage Made Clear is reviewed before publication for factual accuracy, currency of cited rules, and clarity. State-specific content is reviewed against the rules in effect for that state at the time of publication. Numbers, percentages, and dollar limits are double-checked against the primary source.
Updates and Corrections
Insurance rules change. Posts on Coverage Made Clear are revisited periodically and updated when underlying rules, market conditions, or carrier practices change. The publish date on each post reflects when its current content was most recently reviewed.
If you find an error or believe a post is out of date, we want to know. Email corrections to our editorial team using the contact information at the bottom of this page and include the post URL and the specific concern.
Editorial Independence
Coverage Made Clear is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or paid by any insurance carrier. Our editorial decisions about what to cover, what to recommend, and what to caution against are made independently of any commercial relationship. We do not accept payment in exchange for favorable coverage of any product, carrier, or service.
What We Are Not
Coverage Made Clear provides general information, not personalized insurance, legal, or financial advice. Coverage outcomes depend on the specific terms of each policy and the facts of each situation. Readers should confirm important details with their own licensed agent, broker, or carrier before making decisions.
